Celebrity & Poker Bravo’s Pocket Aces
22nd of August 2005
What is arguably the biggest reason poker, and specifically No-Limit Texas Hold’em, has become a huge spectator sport is coming back for a sixth season. Cable television’s Bravo channel hit a home run when they introduced their poker show, Celebrity Poker Showdown, where poker pro Phil Gordon and a celebrity co-host (currently former Kid In The Hall Dave Foley) provide a running commentary on a game of Hold’em played by five celebrities.
After five individual games (that’s 30 celebrities) the final table is comprised of one winner from each of the five previous shows. The celebrities play for charity, and have included in the past Ben Affleck, James Woods, Norm McDonald, Mimi Rodgers and more.
Season six shows begin airing on Bravo Monday, August 22nd at 5pm Eastern, and continue through to the Championship Round on Thursday, September 22nd and will include Andrew Firestone, Bryan Cranston, Howie Mandel, Kathy Najimy, Ricki Lake, Rosie O’Donnell, Penny Marshal, Travis Trit, Alex Trebek, Meatloaf, Johnny Fairplay, and Omarosa
