Down Under Poker On US TV

25th of November 2005

When Australia’s very own Joe Hachem became the first Aussie to win the World Series of Poker this year, along with its record breaking $7.5 Million prize, amid chants of “Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oy! Oy! Oy!” he became known as “Australia’s gift to Poker.” It looks like the country is in a giving mood, because soon a popular Down Under tournament will be making its way to the US via TV.

Melbourne's Crown Casino poker tournament, in a deal with Fox Sports Net, will give Americans the chance to see the game played on the other side of the world; the 2006 Aussie Millions will be filmed at Crown Casino January 15 to 19. The show will be aired as a 10 part series, to debut at 11pm local US time in March. The 2006 Aussie Millions champion will pocket $1 million USD, and there are 4 million more dollars to be split among other winners.
