Hamilton County Florida Opens Poker Room
19th of September 2005
In Florida wagering is nothing new, with Greyhound tracks and Jai Alai games having a firm foothold in the state. In Hamilton County a new structure is going up that will house card tables and feature limited stakes betting on popular card games like Texas Hold’em and Seven Card Stud. There will be live Jai Alai games and there are future plans for establishing a horse track nearby.
Majority owner of Richmond Entertainment, Inc Glenn Richards, has been fighting to get his business built in this area for years. Between hurricanes and opposition from local government and special interest groups, it took some time to get enough support to get underway.
There are futre plans for a simulcast betting room where gamblers can watch and wager on dog, harness and horse racing. Live Jai Alai games will be at 7 PM, and there will be telecast college and pro football games.
