21st of September 2005
Hailing from Woodside Park, New Jersey, Michael J. Nargi won a quarter of a million dollars in cash as the latest champion in the 2005 Borgata Poker Open. He took his prize, along with a diamond covered gold Borgata bracelet, leaving second place finisher James M. English, of Florida, a consolation second prize of $137,275.
The sixth event of the series, the $2,500 buy-in event saw over 320 players, including a few famous poker pros, like David “the Dragon” Pham and others. Those who made it to the end of the 30 hour marathon event took the biggest prizes, like third place finisher Jason M. Langianse, whose prize was nearly $70,000.
The large pool of players pushed the prizes up, with the first place finisher Nargi taking $250,325 in cash, nearly double the pay out of other Borgata events this year.
