Poker Pros Allowed Logos
25th of August 2005
The Travel Channel and the World Poker Tour finalized their decision to allow player logos on the WPT broadcasts staring in Atlantic City. The announcement came late Tuesday and stated that the Borgota Poker Open in September would be the first broadcast where players would be allowed to wear sponsorship logs.
Before the announcement players have been upset regarding the WPT’s refusal to allow them to wear the logos, which provide additional income to the players, helping to defray the costs of tournament competitions, many of which have buy ins around $10,000.
The contract between WPT and the Travel Channel was the force preventing logo wearing. Now that an agreement has been reached, players will be able to wear their company-sponsored logo apparel as long as they stay within the standards set by the World Poker Tour.
