19th 2005f December 2005
In 1999 a father and his three sons began work on a poker web site. Today, the outfit that operates that site, Ongame, is set to be sold for billions of Swedish kroner, which means that the father and sons team will be splitting millions of dollars between them. Erik Hornell and his sons Oskar Hornell, Karl Hornell and Johan Hornell are IT entrepreneurs who started what is now the third largest poker room in the world, aptly named PokerRoom.com
Ongame, which the Hornell team owns 53% of, will be sold to Austrian poker company BETandWIN.com for billions of kroner, with around 2.6 billion going to the father and his sons. With major markets in the US and Canada, PokerRoom.com pulls in millions of dollars in revenue per year from its six million registered users.
