Omaha Poker is growing very quickly in popularity. It has the same buzz around it that Texas Hold’em had when it began its rise to popularity. The rules of the game are fairly simple.
The dealer gives each player four cards, face down. These are the players pocket cards. This deal is followed by the first round of betting. If you are a Texas Hold’em player, you will recognize the betting structure. It is exactly the same.
At the flop the dealer puts down three community cards in the middle of the table, this is followed by a round of betting.
At the turn the fourth card is dealt face up in the middle of the table. This again is followed by a round of betting. A number of players will have dropped out at this point.
The last card is called the river, and it is the final card. It is dealt face up in the middle of the table in exactly the same manner as the previous cards.
The goal of the game is to use your pocket cards in concert with the community cards on the table to make your best five card poker hand. The person with the strongest hand is the winner.
